I’m Knelli (pronounced Nelly), and I’m passionate about helping people, with a particular focus on supporting women, especially women of color, as they navigate the complex terrain of their careers and battle the challenges of cancer. A Glimpse into My Background
I hail from the vibrant city of Birmingham in the UK, specifically from a town called Rowley Regis. It was here that I first laid the foundation for my educational journey, earning my degree from Wolverhampton Universityand subsequently pursuing a postgraduate degree in Human Resource Management at Coventry University, both situated in the picturesque West Midlands. My academic background provided me with a strong foundation upon which I would build my career.
In 2018, I embarked on an exciting new chapter in my life when I made the bold decision to move across the Atlantic to Chicago, Illinois. The Windy City has been my home ever since, and it’s here that I’ve continued to grow both personally and professionally.
A Decade-Long Career in Human Resources
With nearly 12 years of experience in Human Resources, I’ve had the privilege of working across diverse industries, including retail, technology, manufacturing, sports, and entertainment. My journey in HR has been marked by continuous learning and growth, and it has equipped me with invaluable insights into the intricacies of the corporate world.
For the past eight years, I’ve dedicated myself to coaching and mentoring professionals, helping them navigate the complexities of their careers. My expertise lies in resume writing, interview preparation, and guiding individuals through those tough yet necessary conversations that can shape their professional paths.
My Personal Journey with Triple Positive Breast Cancer
In 2021, at the age of 33, I faced an unexpected and life-altering diagnosis: triple-positive breast cancer. This diagnosis turned my world upside down and opened my eyes to the challenges and uncertainties many women, especially women of color, confront when dealing with cancer. My journey through this experience has been one of resilience, self-discovery, and profound personal growth. I’ve learned invaluable lessons along the way, and I’m dedicated to sharing my story to empower and support others facing similar battles.
